The Census Returns

The 1841 Census was the first of its kind and, as such, was a rather hit and miss affair. People were shy of giving details and the recorders were unsure of what exactly was required. However, from 1851 on the Returns are far more reliable.

NOTE - The Census pages have a peculiarity in that the titles load instantaneously but the entries do not appear until the whole page is loaded when they suddenly show up. Please have patience.
